Koganeyu Tokyo

A compact, humid sauna, a bracing cold bath, and a beer afterward: my visit to Koganeyu in Kinshicho had the kind of simple rhythm that makes a sento evening memorable.

Can you visit Koganeyu Tokyo with tattoos?

Yes. Koganeyu’s official Tokyo location page says guests with tattoos may use the baths. That makes this sento a useful option for tattooed visitors. Policies can change, so confirm the current rule directly with the facility before a special trip.

My sauna visit

The sauna room felt compact, but its balance of heat and humidity worked for me. I could settle in and let the sweat build steadily rather than feeling overwhelmed by dry heat. The cold bath felt around 15°C to me—an estimate from my visit, not a measured facility temperature—and its sharp contrast with the sauna made the cooldown especially satisfying.

After the sauna, a beer served in a Koganeyu glass was a highlight of my visit. It is the kind of small reward that makes the whole outing linger in your memory.

Tokyo Skytree is in the wider area, and its illuminated night view was another highlight of the outing—not a view from inside the bathhouse.

Before you go

These sauna and cold-bath impressions come from one personal visit; your experience may differ, and the approximate cold-water temperature is not an official specification. Koganeyu normally swaps the men’s and women’s bathing areas on Wednesdays, but special notices can change the schedule. If a specific sauna or bathing area matters to you, check the latest notice on Koganeyu’s official Tokyo page.
